By Road 300 km/6 hrs, Proceed to
Amber Fort on the outskirts of the city and take a bumpy elephant
ride to come from there. Amber Fort, the palace or the royal
apartments lies inside it with gateways, gardens, halls, stairways,
pillared pavilions, temples and palaces. Built in 1952, it is the
perfect blend of Hindu and Mughal styles of architecture. Then
proceed further a trip for the city sightseeing.
City Palace
Located in the capital of Rajasthan, the City Palace of Jaipur or
the main palace is an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthan and
Mughal architecture. The vast palace complex occupies one seventh of
the walled city of Jaipur. Originally built by Maharaja Jai Singh II
of the Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs, additions have been made to the
palace complex by many of his successors.
Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 by Pratap Singh which is a five
floored building built of sandstone-plastered pink encrusted with
fine trellis work and huge balconies. Provides the visitors with
excellent views of the city, the best time to view Hawa Mahal is
sunrise when sunlight through the latticed windows gives it a
wonderful glow.
Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar is wholly constructed with stone and marble by Jai
Singh II in various parts of India. The observatory has fourteen
statistical instruments for measuring time, predicting eclipses and
to ascertain other astronomical events. |
